Yesterday was our first day of rehearsal. I discovered at the end of the day that there’s some wifi I could pick up at the studio, so I should be able to blog during rehearsals (when I’m not on), which should make updates easier. I’m also hoping to be able to shoot some video of rehearsals if everyone is up for it, which should be fun.
As expected, the work was physically challenging, and by the end of the day my body was really protesting every move. But as challenging as the work might be, its also a lot of fun, and the actors are so talented that its always rewarding, even when we’re trying to hammer out the specifics of a scene. Since this is a play based on silent film comedies, specificity if extremely important. When you don’t really have lines to fall back on, you really need to make certain that everything you are doing has a purpose, and so you need to know exactly what your character is saying and feeling and doing. There are some very in depth conversations happening, on what the characters are doing and how to get that across without words.
Working a new scene this afternoon.
Its so great to have the time off from work to be able to do this, and I’m very thankful for the people at work for giving me the time off to focus on this work. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without their generous understanding.
